NHS Wales Architecture Principles

Architecture principles are fundamental rules and guidelines that inform and support the way we design and develop technology solutions across NHS Wales. They help ensure consistency, promote best practices, and align technology decisions with national health and care strategy.

These principles are reviewed, amended, and approved nationally by the NHS Wales Standards and Architecture Group (SAG), which has the authority to approve architecture principles and standards for use across NHS Wales.

Organisations across NHS Wales - for example DHCW - adopt these national principles and are responsible for their own supporting rationale, implications, and more detailed domain-specific principles.
